Poster Annotation

The shot of the characters is a slightly low angle longshot, which emphasises the power and dominance of them. It also makes them very larger in comparison to the background further emphasising this.

The names of the main actors in the film are big and bold to give as they are a USP, and audiences will recognise the names, and want to see it due to reputations. It is the star image of the actors in character.

The background image is of a space battle which is used to emphasise the genre of sci-fi and action/adventure. This is due to the colours of green and purple; which connote adventure and mystery, further emphasised by the planet seen in the background. This is also long-shot to show the vastness of space linking to the genre.

The costumes are also used to give an ‘out of this world’ connotation which further emphasises the sci-fi genre. This is also shown through the green laser guns; which are also associated with the genre.
Extra promotional material used when it says ‘brought you the Avengers’ used as star branding; as well as release date so audiences know when they can see it
The billing block contains information about who worked on film but not necessary for the reader so very small across the bottom. As well as the very famous, and well known ‘Marvel’ logo.
The title is bold and very large, which is important because it is the main way people will know of the film, and it’s the first thing which draws your attention. The gold font connotes power and law enforcement; linking to the word ‘Guardians’. It is a serif font to show the genre pf action and sci-fi.
The marvel logo is present as this film is not as well-known as the other superhero films and it is very organic. Therefore it is used to brand the film, as many of Marvel’s films have good reputations. Also showing its apart of the same ‘shared universe’.
